Process

October 1 Beginning of the online-application via our application portal. The asked questions should help you to show us your strengths
December 30 Deadline for application is sharp 12 PM. You can hand in earlier!
End of January Invitations for interviews. The number of invited applicants will be about twice the number of volunteers we can send to Tanzania.
Beginning February Assessment center in Hamburg. You can expect a good day with group-dynamic games, information and an interview.
  Decision. Two to three days later we will inform you by phone about our decision.
March through August Preparations. You will be busy with health examinations, host organization, Swahili, thematic literature and more.
  Fundraising. You build up a circle of financial supporters. We support you with our fund-raising guide and personal assistance.
June or July Swahili language course. We offer you an intensive and cheap language course. Speaking the language is the key skill for a successful voluntary service.
  Preparatory seminar. During the 12-day-long seminar all volunteers get prepared for intercultural encounters, Tanzania and renewable energies in group work.
Mid-August Flight to Tanzania. After the preparatory seminar there is some time left for you to see your friends and family. Maria (Mentor), Oliva (Coordinator) and Matthew (director of TAREA) as well as a representative of the DTP welcome you at the airport in Tanzania.
  Introduction period. The first seven days you reflect your first impressions within the group of volunteers. You improve your language skills with the help of a Tanzanian teacher.
September Journey to your host organization. You are be picked up in Dar es Salaam by a member of your host organization or host family.
  Guidance. Your supervisor in Tanzania, Oliva and Matthew from TAREA, we in Germany and your predecessors will be available. In case of emergency you can call us by phone 24 hours: a staff member or member of the DTP managing board will be available.
Beginning January Mid-term seminar. You meet all volunteers again for seven days to exchange your views and reflect your life in Tanzania. You will return with a bunch of new ideas for the second half of your voluntary service.
Mid-August Flight back to Germany.
Mid-September Debriefing seminar. You reflect the experiences that you have gathered throughout the year and after your return. You get prepared for your multiplier role and get to know FUGE.
