Also the host-families have a great responsibility for the volunteers. A yearly hosted three day long seminar that is held in Swahili reinforces their understanding for challenging moments between them and the German volunteers. Each host-family is represented by the host-mothers to ensure that the women can frankly and freely among each other. To not only provide an unilateral development policy education and sensitization it is important to include the wishes and experiences of the host-mothers.

The seminar host is a Tanzanian woman. Additionally the Tanzanian mentor for the volunteers is present to bring her experiences in, concerning the volunteers, and to report to the volunteers the subjects they worked on.

To give the host-family an overview and a visual impression over and of the DTP and its voluntary program the DTP created a photo album with subtitles in Swahili. It shows the DTP and the diversity of their program.
